Carlisle Building Department To Close Fridays Through Summer
The Building Department will close on Fridays through the summer, and property tax payments come due Monday, August 3, according to the latest town announcements, as Carlisle residents also look ahead to an August 15 Household Hazardous Waste Day.

Carlisle's Building Department will be closed on Fridays for the remainder of the summer, resuming its regular Friday hours in September, the town's News Flash announced. Residents with permit or inspection needs are asked to plan around the closure until then.
Separately, the town reminded residents that real estate and personal property taxes are due Monday, August 3. Town Hall itself closes at noon on Fridays, a standing summer schedule that applies through the season.
Looking further out, the Board of Health has set Carlisle's 2026 Household Hazardous Waste Day for Saturday, August 15, from 9 a.m. to noon, giving residents a chance to dispose of paints, solvents, pesticides and other hazardous materials that can't go out with regular trash.
The Community Preservation Committee has also opened its FY27 fall grant cycle, with applications due by noon on Friday, August 14. Any funded projects would go before voters at the Special Town Meeting scheduled for November 16 at the Corey Auditorium and Cafeteria of Carlisle Public School.
SCHOOLS
Carlisle Public Schools remains in its summer schedule, with the Main Office keeping hours of 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. through August 7 while summer school is in session. The district has flagged that there is no public restroom access for playground users during this period, and parking is restricted in the School Street lot on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., with the playground reserved for student use during those same hours.
The School Committee's next meeting is set for Wednesday, August 5, at 10 a.m. The district has also posted its 2026 summer learning resources, including summer reading lists and math practice tools organized by grade level, for families looking to keep students engaged before the new year begins.

The town's homepage continues to spotlight Carlisle's trail network under its "Take a Hike!" feature, pointing residents to maps and descriptions of the town's conservation lands for summer outings. The July edition of the Town of Carlisle Municipal Newsletter is also newly available, featuring monthly community news, celebrations and resident submissions.
COMING UP
Several town board meetings are on the calendar this week: the Transfer Station Action Committee meets Wednesday, July 29; a joint session of the Concord Public School Committee and Concord-Carlisle Regional School District Committee convenes remotely that same day; and the Board of Health holds a hybrid meeting Wednesday as well. A joint School Committee Climate and Culture Working Group meeting is set remotely for Thursday, July 30.
Looking further ahead, taxes are due August 3, the Community Preservation Committee's FY27 grant application deadline falls on August 14 at noon, Household Hazardous Waste Day runs August 15 from 9 a.m. to noon, and the Carlisle School Committee meets Wednesday, August 5, at 10 a.m.
