Carlisle Sets Aug. 15 Date For Household Hazardous Waste Day

Carlisle's Household Hazardous Waste Day is set for Saturday, August 15, giving residents a single seasonal window to dispose of chemicals, solvents and other hazardous materials, while the town's Building Department settles into reduced summer hours.

The town's 2026 Household Hazardous Waste Day will run from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, August 15, according to the town's News Flash announcements. Residents are directed to a "Read on" notice on the town website for drop-off details and accepted materials.

Separately, the Building Department is closed on Fridays for the summer and will resume its regular Friday hours in September, the town said.

Two items previously reported by this paper continue to move forward: the Community Preservation Committee's fall grant cycle remains open, with applications due Friday, August 14, at noon ahead of the November 16 Special Town Meeting where they will be voted on.

COMING UP

Carlisle holds voting equipment testing for the State Primary and a hybrid Planning Board meeting on Monday, August 10. The Select Board meets in hybrid format Tuesday, August 11, and the Carlisle Cultural Council meets remotely Wednesday, August 12. Community Preservation Committee grant applications are due Friday, August 14, at noon, and the town's Household Hazardous Waste Day follows Saturday, August 15, from 9 a.m. to noon.
