The Town of Carlisle announced a free environmental film series open to the public, including children 10 and older, to be held at the First Religious Society, 27 School St.

The first film, "Plastic People: The Hidden Crisis of Microplastics," screens Nov. 7 at 7 p.m. and examines the environmental and health dangers of plastic pollution. The release notes it contains some profanity and some images of surgery.

The second film, "Just Eat It: A Food Waste Story," screens Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. and looks at systemic food waste from stores, farms and home kitchens and the environmental damage it causes.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for both screenings. Complimentary refreshments will be served, and each film will be followed by a community question and answer session.

The series is co-sponsored by Carlisle's Transfer Station Action Committee, the town's Environmental Sustainability Committee, the First Religious Society's Environmental Action Committee, and the Gleason Public Library. The town directed residents to the Environmental Sustainability Committee website for more information.
