Committees approve Thoreau playground expansion and budget transfers
School Committee Meeting Agendas (Local and Regional) · Meeting of February 4, 2026
CARLISLE — The Concord and Concord-Carlisle Regional School committees approved the Thoreau School playground Phase 2 expansion unanimously on February 4, featuring nature-inspired play spaces, accessible features, and drought-tolerant plantings. The regional committee also voted unanimously to approve FY26 Q2 budget transfers for the $41.6 million district budget, with Assistant Superintendent Robert Conry reporting $1.6 million remaining unencumbered. Conry also presented the Carlisle Finance Committee's request for a $100,000 budget reduction to mitigate a 9.37 percent enrollment-driven assessment increase, which would require offsetting cuts of $400,000 district-wide; the committee deferred formal action pending final insurance rate calculations and ongoing negotiations with Carlisle leadership.
