Conservation Commission · Meeting of September 9, 2026

CARLISLE — The Carlisle Conservation Commission deferred dam study next phase. The Commission received a progress report on hydrologic modeling at Greenough Land and Cranberry Bog Dam #1, with mixed calibration results. While the Greenough model successfully calibrated to a January 2024 rainfall event, the Cranberry Bog model has not validated against a second independent storm event due to incomplete stop log records and an inaccessible survey area.

Chair George Shepard and the Commission agreed to defer dam rehabilitation alternatives evaluation for Cranberry Bog pending further hydrologic validation, and outlined next steps including compilation of volunteer water level data and provision of stop log information to Weston & Sampson. Additional monitoring and bathymetric surveying could cost $8,000 to $11,000.
