CARLISLE — Fire Station Building Renovation Committee advances design ahead of May Town Meeting vote. Committee co-chairs Eric Balles and Greg Zurlo oversaw review of revised building designs from Tecton that reduce height by 10 to 12 feet and footprint by 400 to 500 square feet compared to the original concept. The plans incorporate drive-through apparatus bays, improved parking and site access, pre-engineered metal buildings for fire suppression, and new water management systems.
Site challenges include Conservation Commission wetland confirmation delays, potential ledge removal costs at $350 per cubic yard, and Planning Board tree-replacement requirements. The committee unanimously appointed Jerome Lerman and Suzanne Spinney to support contractor prequalification ahead of the May 18 Town Meeting warrant.
