CARLISLE — Fire Station Building Renovation Committee approves exhaust system specification while managing water supply permitting concerns. The committee unanimously approved a motion by Suzanne Spinney, seconded by David Flannery, to adopt a proprietary Niederman vehicle exhaust extraction system specification matching the existing installation, acknowledging that operational and maintenance benefits outweigh competitive bidding limitations. A water supply permitting question emerged when the Board of Health suggested the existing well may require Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection classification as a public water supply, triggered by the planned conference room exceeding the 25-person, 60-day annual threshold.
The committee will continue its current project schedule while initiating a parallel informational process with Mass DEP and the Board of Health. The project is scheduled for Planning Board review on March 30.
