Fire Station Committee Approves Refined Estimate, Value Engineering for Board Review

CARLISLE — Fire Station Committee approves hybrid HVAC and value engineering for March Select Board presentation. The committee voted 7-0 with one abstention to adopt a refined design development estimate incorporating $75,000 in potential parapet-elimination savings and $77,000 from using concrete masonry units instead of insulated metal panels. Fire Chief Bryan Sorrows explained that fire code requires the fire suppression pump to be housed in a separate building; the committee agreed to maintain the enlarged outbuilding for this critical function and for cost-effective storage, and confirmed a hybrid heating and electrical system that reduces electrical service and generator size while supporting fire department operational needs and the town's decarbonization commitment.
The refined estimate will guide the committee's March 10 Select Board presentation, with bid documents due March 18.
