Fire Station Renovation Committee Opts to Drop Roof, Rescinds Low Bid Award
Fire Station Building Renovation Committee · Meeting of May 12, 2026
CARLISLE — Fire Station renovation committee rejects roof replacement to keep project within $17.5 million warrant article request. After Seaver Construction, the apparent low bidder at $14,442,000, was disqualified due to insufficient single-project limits under state DCAM regulations, the committee voted unanimously to exclude roof replacement rather than accept Construction Dynamics' compliant but higher bid of $15,024,000. Co-chair Greg Zurlo argued the deferral would cost only $75,000 more over two to three years, while Fire Chief Bryan Sorrows proposed combining a future roof replacement with solar panel installation to gain community support and energy savings.
