Carlisle Historical Commission defers vote on Library's $500,000 CPA funding request. The Gleason Public Library presented its second CPA application, seeking up to $500,000 for interior renovations including dedicated teen and tween space, improved acoustics, and ADA accessibility improvements. Trustee Kaitlin Waterson noted project costs have escalated significantly since the library's 2023 CPA grant of $767,000.
The Commission deferred its vote on recommending support pending detailed budget documentation showing allocation of CPA Historic Reserve funds and undesignated CPA funds. Member Ed Rolfe raised questions about which project expenses can be covered by CPA Historic Reserve funds, and the board requested clearer documentation before the May 18 Town Meeting.
