Planning Board approves accessory dwelling unit and relocates fire station review hearing.

Planning Board · Meeting of March 9, 2026

Carlisle Planning Board advances zoning bylaw amendment and approves housing projects. Chair Sara Cassidy Smith and all seven board members present voted unanimously to approve Site Plan Review for Community Farm School, Inc.'s relocation to 201 Bedford Road, and approved an accessory dwelling unit at 163 Sunset Road by a 6-0-1 vote, with Dwight DeMay abstaining. The board unanimously selected Landtech Consultants as peer review civil engineer and continued the public hearing on the Carlisle Fire Station renovation and expansion project at 80 Westford Street to March 30.

The board also voted unanimously to submit a revised Zoning Bylaw Section 6.3 to the Select Board for Annual Town Meeting consideration, replacing a 50-year-old quantitative 50 percent expansion cap on nonconforming structures with a qualitative "substantially more detrimental to the neighborhood" standard to align with state law.
