Planning Board approves fire station renovation site plan, clears Woodward Village close-out

Planning Board · Meeting of May 11, 2026

Carlisle Planning Board unanimously approves fire station renovation and Woodward Village close-out. The Board voted 7-0 to permit the 80 Westford Street fire station renovation and expansion project, conditioning approval on specified building materials, a future well access route, and scenic road consent for any Rockland Road work. Simultaneously, all Board members determined ten design changes to the Woodward Village special permit—including reduced walkway width and grading adjustments—were insubstantial under zoning bylaws.

Town Planner Julie Mercier reported peer review of Woodward Village as-built plans confirmed compliance with approved designs. Outstanding Woodward Village items include final legal documents, trail kiosk coordination, and Conservation Commission closeout. The Board declined to take positions on CPA articles citing conflict-of-interest concerns but confirmed prior support for a proposed zoning bylaw amendment.
