Safety Committee advances speed-limit and crosswalk safety initiatives.

CARLISLE — Safety Committee unanimously directs town to pursue adoption of Massachusetts law authorizing 20 mph safety zones and to commission a traffic study of six high-risk locations. Laura Harrison opened the meeting attended by committee members Brian King and Tal Rotman (remote), with staff including Assistant Town Administrator Aubrey Thomas and DPW Director James Hall. The committee voted to request the Select Board present the safety-zone statute at town meeting and tasked Town Administrator Ryan McLane with evaluating funding and process for a traffic engineer study.
MassDOT has offered four free solar SLOW DOWN signs for Route 225, with installation as the only town cost, and will repave Bedford Road at no expense to Carlisle.
