Carlisle Safety Committee backs two safety zones. The committee unanimously voted to recommend that the Select Board establish safety zones at East Street and Bedford Road, following Nitsch Engineering studies showing both locations met threshold criteria. The vote was 4-0, with Laura Harrison, David Thomas, Brian King, and Rebecca Madden-Sturges voting in favor.
The committee also discussed Task 2 speed data collection and plans a public forum for August 27 or September 10 to gather resident input on priority locations. Chief of Police Andy Booth will begin data collection once a prioritized list is established, with the caveat that MassDOT will not approve speed limit reductions exceeding 7 miles per hour below the 85th percentile speed.
