Safety Committee · Meeting of May 8, 2026

Carlisle Safety Committee votes unanimously to back Madden-Sturges for Select Board membership. Members recommended the applicant based on her Peace Corps experience and grant-writing expertise. The committee also voted unanimously on a contingency: passage of Town Meeting Article 20 if Article 19 does not pass, allocating $17,000 in emergency funds.

Chair Laura Harrison reported that requested crosswalk signage funding was denied by the Select Board but may be incorporated into a traffic safety proposal, while a $100,000 Complete Streets grant application was unsuccessful. Community input flagged the Pope and West streets intersection for poor visibility and accident risk.
