CARLISLE — The Carlisle Safety Committee reviewed two regulatory pathways for reducing vehicle speeds on town roads. Committee members Laura Harrison, Tal Rotman, and Brian King heard from Nitsch Engineering consultant Jason Sobel about establishing Safety Zones under revised state law, with Route 225 and East Street identified as candidate locations. Chief Bryan Sorrows requested investigation of poor sight-lines at Pope and West Street and South and West Street intersections; the committee discussed installing convex traffic safety mirrors.
Harrison agreed to solicit cost estimates from Department of Public Works Director Jim Hall for mirrors, crosswalk signage, and anticipated Safety Zone signage, and to identify funding needed for a Select Board request.
