Select Board approves fire station renovation bidding process

CARLISLE — Select Board backs Fire Station renovation project advance to bidding with $17.5M estimate. The Fire Station Building Renovation Committee, co-chaired by Eric Balles and Greg Zurlo, presented design changes shifting the facility from a three-story to two-story structure, with revised costs of $15.15 million in construction, $757,000 for contingency, and $1.5 million in soft costs; the committee identified $577,000 in value engineering savings. The project has attracted significant contractor interest, with 18 general contractors and 131 sub-bidders prequalified.
The Select Board voted unanimously to support proceeding with the bidding process, with bid documents to be issued March 18 and bids due April 23.
