Select Board approves fire station renovation to advance to bidding phase
Select Board · Meeting of March 10, 2026
CARLISLE — Select Board approves fire station renovation bidding, costing $17.5 million. The committee's revised two-story design, prepared by Tecton architect Matt Salad and project manager Niel Joyce of CMS, includes new apparatus bays, administrative offices, fitness room, training facilities, and five bunk rooms, with $577,000 achieved through value engineering and over 150 contractors expressing interest. The board unanimously approved joining a shared services feasibility study with the Town of Concord and Lincoln to evaluate regional 911 dispatch consolidation, contingent on state grant funding; Fire Chief Bryan Sorrows and Police Chief Andrew Amendola expressed concerns about preserving Carlisle's distinct fire dispatch procedures.
The board also unanimously referred a zoning bylaw amendment addressing Section 6.3 to the Planning Board for public hearing, reducing road maintenance budget to $700,000 for fiscal 2027, and deferred the Safety Committee's traffic study request pending a direct presentation to the board.
