The Trails Committee reviewed a housing and conservation swap at Cranberry Bog with significant concerns.
Trails Committee · Meeting of September 9, 2026
CARLISLE — The Trails Committee reviewed a housing and conservation swap at Cranberry Bog with significant concerns. Housing Trust co-chair John Ballantine and Town Planner Julie Mercier presented plans for the Bog House project, removing roughly 35,000 square feet of conservation land for housing, septic, and nine parking spaces while adding approximately 10 acres of the Conant Land parcel into conservation. Committee members questioned whether 12 trail-user parking spaces would suffice at peak times and raised concerns about trail connections and vehicle access.
The committee also discussed a CPA funding request of $20,000, higher than typical, citing rising boardwalk construction costs. The housing project requires Conservation Commission, Select Board, and Town Meeting approval in November.
