CARLISLE — The Carlisle Zoning Board of Appeals voted unanimously to support Article 23 of the warrant, replacing a quantitative 50-percent standard for nonconforming structures with a subjective "substantially more detrimental" test. Members W. Jay Lee and Ian Applegate expressed concern that the new language would increase subjectivity in the Board's decisions, though Chair Eric Adams noted Town Counsel indicated no legal alternative exists.
The Board also heard an informal presentation by applicants Anthony Klauzinski and Alyssa Grinberg seeking feedback on a detached garage proposal at 238 Munroe Hill Road that would require a 40-foot setback variance; a site visit was scheduled for May 14, 2026.
