Carlisle Pollinator Panel Votes to Oppose DPW Facility at Peter Spring Fields

Carlisle's Pollinator Advisory Committee voted unanimously Tuesday to urge the town to keep Peter Spring Fields in organic agricultural use, away from a proposed Department of Public Works relocation. The committee approved a motion encouraging preservation of the fields for organic farming, pollinator-friendly plantings, and Blanding's turtle habitat, directing the statement to the Select Board, the Land Use Working Group, and the Agricultural Commission. Members noted that a Land Use Working Group co-chair had recently indicated MCI is now the panel's first-choice DPW site, but cautioned the question is not settled ahead of the working group's next meeting May 8.

Member Leah will draft and circulate the formal written statement; the committee also voted to begin mapping Japanese knotweed town-wide using a shared Google Earth tool, with coverage assignments divided among members by neighborhood, and set its next meeting for May 12.
