After a Cleary and Sons assessment found extensive dry rot and quoted $31,000 to restore the six front windows — against roughly $1,200 per window installed for new units — the commission approved replacing all windows in both the historic structure and a new addition with Marvin Ultimate painted wood double-hung windows, with cut sheet and mullion specifications to be confirmed administratively. Separately, the commission voted to withdraw the application's front parking and planting plan for resubmission as a new application, with members signaling skepticism about any parking approval in a front lawn. A Lowell Road application was continued to June 17 after commissioners found that two already-installed decorative sconces are likely not dark-sky compliant and that a full-glass Pella front door lacks the mullions commissioners consider necessary for a colonial property of that significance.
