Concord Transportation Advisory Committee reviews final draft of two-year mobility plan

CARLISLE — Concord Transportation Advisory Committee takes up final draft of comprehensive mobility strategy. The TAC and visiting Select Board members heard a two-and-a-half-year-in-the-making Comprehensive Transportation Strategy Plan presented by Stantec principal Liza Cohen at the April 14 meeting, with no votes taken but extensive feedback collected ahead of a planned May finalization. The plan organizes recommendations across six strategy areas — safety, Route 2 and MassDOT coordination, commuter rail access, walking, public parking, and bicycling — and is intended to serve as the town's primary transportation reference document for future project decisions.

Public commenters called for a Vision Zero policy adoption, greater transparency in the traffic-safety ranking tool currently described as a "black box," and a dedicated mobility planner to own implementation. Stantec senior principal Ralph Danisco stressed that having an adopted plan with documented community consensus is the single most effective tool for moving MassDOT to act on Concord's priorities.
