West Nile Virus Detected in Carlisle Mosquitoes

CARLISLE — The Massachusetts Department of Public Health has confirmed West Nile virus in mosquitoes collected in Carlisle, the town said, urging residents to take precautions against bites as the summer season continues. The finding is the most significant development out of Carlisle in the past day, arriving alongside several practical updates from Town Hall.

TOWN HALL

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health announced that West Nile virus (WNV) has been detected in mosquitoes collected from Carlisle. The town is directing residents to guidance on reducing mosquito exposure as the finding raises the local risk profile heading into late summer.

Separately, the Building Department will be closed on Fridays through the rest of the summer, with regular Friday hours resuming in September. And at the Transfer Station, a new regulation limits parking to 15 minutes to keep traffic moving; attendants may ask vehicles parked longer than that to move outside the facility.

SCHOOLS

The Carlisle School Committee has its next meeting set for Wednesday, August 26 at 1 p.m., a remote session, with a follow-up meeting scheduled for Wednesday, September 16 at 6 p.m. The district's website also continues to point families to its 2026 summer learning resources, including reading lists and math practice tools for all grade levels ahead of the new school year.
